The Electric Fence

Hate crime is an ominous, prevailing presence in our society. Borders, barriers and warning signs have come to be part of our everyday life, but are we being kept out, or is something being kept in?

The Electric Fence encourages us to examine the perceptions, challenges and preconceptions that impact us all and compels us to turn to face them.

A bold, visceral confrontation, Annabel McCourt’s thought-provoking installation appears ‘live’, providing a powerful and macabre reminder of our own latent potential. Stark and unforgettable, The Electric Fence awaits you…

Grimsby-born artist Annabel McCourt has a diverse portfolio with work ranging from lens-based gritty social-realism, through to installation art, moving image and architectural interventions, inspired by fact, folklore & legend. She will be drawing on this experience and using cutting edge technology in the creation of the Electric Fence for Hull 2017 UK City of Culture.

The Electric Fence is part of the Hull 2017 UK City of Culture Creative Communities Programme.
